Maria Sharapova Admits Failed Drug Test

Former tennis world No1 Maria Sharapova announced on Monday that she had failed a drug test at this year’s Australian Open. Speaking at a press conference in Los Angeles, the 28-year-old Russian said she had been taking the substance called Mildronate (also called Meldonium) for the past 10 years, and that it only became illegal on 1 January 2016. ‘I don’t want to end my career this way. And I really hope that I will be given another chance to play this game,’ she said
